The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial board
which interprets and applies the town’s zoning bylaw.
It decides on a case by case basis requests for variances,
special permits and appeals of the decision of the Building
Inspector considering the impact on the town, and requirements
set forth in the Bylaw and Chapter 40A of the State General
laws.

The ZBA holds public hearings on applications requesting special
permits and variances, appeals of decisions of the Building
Inspector, and other matters as provided in the Zoning By-Law.
Notices of hearings are sent to all property owners within
300 feet of the subject property. The process takes a minimum
of two months from the time of application to time of decision.
After a decision is written, signed and filed with the Town
Clerk, there is a twenty day appeal period.
