Service Description:
The Finance Director is responsible for the administration of the Accounting Department as well as the coordination of the activities of the Accounting, Treasurer, Collector and Assessors departments.

The Accounting Department provides accounting services to the Town and the Lincoln and Hanscom School Systems (K-8). Among its major functions are the control of all receipts and disbursements of the Town. Other major departmental activities include the maintenance of the general ledger for all town and school funds, review, approval and processing of purchase orders and invoices for the purchase of goods and services and payroll for all town and school employees. In addition the department is responsible for account analysis and reconciliation, certification of availability of funds, ongoing financial monitoring of all contracts entered into by the town, and water utility billing.

The department maintains timely and accurate accounting records which enable the Town to issue financial reports for both internal and external use, including the preparation of state required reports. It also coordinates the annual financial and compliance audit with the independent auditors.

In addition, the Finance Director, in conjunction with the Executive Secretary, assists in the formulation, preparation and administration of the town budget. The department works in close coordination with the Information Technology Department.
