Housing COMMISSION

Mission Statement: The mission of the Housing Commission is to 1) maintain existing and 2) create additional affordable housing so that we might preserve the economically diverse population that has historically been a key element in the small town identity of Lincoln.

To fulfill this mission the Commission will work to increase housing diversity by pursuing housing opportunities for certain targeted populations, including, but not limited to: seniors on fixed incomes, town employees, and children of present and past residents.

The Commission will continue to manage houses rented or owned by the town in an efficient, effective and equitable manner in accordance with its mission. .

Committee Members: Renel Fredriksen (Chair), Pam Gallup, George Georges, Phyllis Mutschler, BJ Scheff, Mary Sheldon (Council on Aging Representative).

Meetings: Second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 AM in the Town Offices.

Service Description: The Lincoln Housing Commission is the primary housing group in the Town. Five residents serve on the Housing Commission. The Town elects three members, the Selectmen appoint one member, the state appoints one member, and the Lincoln Council on Aging appoints a liaison. The Housing Commission is subject to control by the Town Meeting as it is not a corporate entity.

The Housing Commission works with the Lincoln Foundation, Rural Land Foundation, Affordable Housing Trust, Community Preservation Committee, HOME Consortium, and others to support our mission.
