The Recycling Committee would like to remind
Lincoln consumers that this is a great time of year to think
recycling. Gift
wrap (but no metallic papers) and all cardboard and paper
packaging materials should be included in your paper recycling.
Styrofoam packing and "peanuts" should go in the
Styrofoam bins at the Transfer station. Plastic food containers
can be washed in the dishwasher or rinsed thoroughly and
placed in plastic recycling. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and
Christmas gifts that end up as clutter can be "cleaned
out" by depositing them on the swap table in the Transfer
Station shed.
Note that the Transfer station will be closed on Christmas
Eve, but open on Tuesday, Dec 23 from 7:30 to 3:30. Regular
hours will resume on Saturday, Dec. 27.
Remember you can contribute to cancer research by delivering
your MA deposit bottles and cans to the Transfer Station
shed. The proceeds go to “You Can Help,” formerly
known as “Cans for Cancer.”
The Highway Department
reports that in November, Lincoln collected approximately 53.052
tons of recycled materials, of which
46.18 tons were paper. Our total solid waste for the same
period was approximately 101.53 tons.
Thanks to last month's
volunteers who helped monitor the new bumper stickers and worked
at the glass table at the Transfer
Station in November: Tom Billings, Fan Watkinson, Priscilla
Damon, Susan Ketteringham, Lucy Sachs, Sue Seeley, Sam Perkins,
Bob Lennington, Frank Hart, Carla Ricci, Dudley Herschbach,
Roz Delori, Sandra Bradlee, Dan Elias, Sally Bobbit, Bud Street,
Nancy Henderson, and Tim Taylor.
Sincerely yours,
:
