Absentee Voting
Absentee Voting
Absentee ballots are for use by registered voters unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to:

1) absence from town during normal polling hours
2) physical disability preventing attendance at the polling place, or
3) religious belief.

A signed written request is required before receiving an Absentee Ballot. The ballot may be voted at the Town Clerk’s Office during regular office hours, or the applicant may request that it be mailed to a specified address.  The deadline to apply for an Absentee Ballot is noon of the day before an election. 

Massachusetts Law does not permit any person to obtain or deliver an Absentee Ballot for another individual, although Applications for an Absentee Ballot may be made by family members.  Absentee Ballot Applications for oneself or for a specified family member may be obtained at the Town Clerk’s Office  or at the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website.

Permanent Absentee

Permanent Absentee status is available to registered voters unable to appear in person at the polls if a letter to that effect, on their physician’s letterhead, is filed with the Town Clerk.
