Counselor in Training (CIT)

COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING:  GRADES 9 - 11

The Lincoln Summer Camp is offering a Counselor-In-Training program for three 2 week sessions for teens entering grades 9, 10 and 11.  The program is designed to help CITs develop their leadership skills, acquire and demonstrate skills in working with children, work together in a cooperative group setting, and have fun!

The CIT Program is based on the following philosophies:
  • Positive reinforcement is key in helping participants feel like valued members of the group. It not only enhances the self esteem of the individual member but will also help the group achieve a level of autonomy and self respect.
  • The CIT will become aware of the guidelines &  structure of the daily operation of camp, thereby  developing a sense of responsibility toward the camp and its members.
  • Being able to contribute a part of the whole toward someone else’s well being can be an important source of self esteem.

To become a CIT please register online at: www.lincolnrec.com and submit an essay (approximately 250 words) on why you would like to be a CIT. Please send essays to Stacey at .  Applications will be reviewed and you will be contacted for an interview.  If selected, CITs will be required to attend the Pre-Camp Staff Training.
