Lincoln Named a "Climate Leader" Community

On November 3rd, we learned that Lincoln was named a Climate Leader Community by the MA Department of Energy Resources (DOER).  This designation came as a result of:

  1. Lincoln's past actions to reduce greenhouse gasses (e.g. renovating the Lincoln School, installing EV chargers, becoming a member of the 10-town pilot banning new gas hookups).
  2. Our work to develop a Climate Action Plan.
  3. Continued energy efficiency and electrification efforts (e.g. building an all-electric Community Center and installing the solar array on the former landfill).

As a Climate Leader community, we are eligible to receive grants for technical studies and municipal clean energy projects.  Thank you to our Planning Department and our Green Energy Committee for all their hard work!

Finance Committee Hosted 1st Budget Workshop

On December 15th, the town's four budget centers (Town, Lincoln Public Schools, Lincoln-Sudbury High School, and Lincoln Public Library) presented their preliminary FY 2027 budgets to the Finance Committee. The Capital Planning Committee was also on hand to present project requests.

If you are interested in how Lincoln's budgets are built, now is the time to tune in!  Each cost center will continue to discuss budget development in the coming weeks and there will be a second budget workshop in January. Remembering Chief Bowles

The flags located on Town properties were lowered last week in recognition of the recent passing of retired Police Chief Allen (“Al”) Bowles.  Many will remember Al who served as member of our Police Department for thirty plus years -- nearly ten years as Chief.  Al grew up in Lincoln and remained committed to the people of the Town throughout his professional career.  Under Al’s leadership the Lincoln Police Department became a model small-town department, recognized for its professionalism and compassion. He was decent and kind and well-respected in law enforcement circles.  He retired in 2003 proud of the culture he helped create.  Al, his wife Cathy, and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.
