Information Session at the Lincoln Select Board Meeting

The Lincoln Select Board will hold an information session during its meeting on Monday, March 9 to discuss Articles 7 and 8 of the 2026 Town Meeting warrant.

The Lincoln Library’s existing heating system includes a 35-year-old gas-fired boiler that is increasingly at risk of failure, creating an urgent reliability and operational concern. At the same time, the Town has been evaluating ways to align necessary replacements with Lincoln’s climate and decarbonization goals.

Using grant funded technical support, the Town evaluated multiple long-term solutions—including ground source heat pumps (GSHP), air source heat pumps (ASHP), and a conventional HVAC replacement—with comparative costs, lifecycle considerations, and available incentives. Articles 7 and 8 of the Warrant ask whether the Town should appropriate funds to replace the HVAC system with a ground source heat pump solution or pursue a more conventional system replacement. 

Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the proposal, the options considered, and to ask questions before Town Meeting.
